CME Group Trading Halted Over 10 Hours After Data Center Overheating
A critical CME Group data center in Aurora, Illinois experienced a service outage exceeding 10 hours from the evening of Nov. 27 to the morning of Nov. 28, JinShi reports. Temperatures at the facility reached nearly 49 degrees Celsius after cooling equipment failed, approximately 48% above the U.S. industry-standard maximum. The exchange did not activate its backup data center in the New York area, with sources familiar with the matter suggesting major trading firms may have lacked sufficient technical infrastructure at the backup facility and preferred to await restoration of the Aurora site.
