IMF flags Nigeria’s crypto boom with about $59billion in inflows processed from July 2023 to June 2024
Nigeria processed approximately $59billion in crypto asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024, and has accounted for nearly 60 per cent of stablecoin transfers into Sub-Saharan Africa since 2019, according to IMF data. Bitget Wallet said its payments business is expanding rapidly, with more than 150,000 payment cards issued across over 50 markets and accepted at more than 150 million merchants worldwide. The development underscores rising crypto payment penetration, without indicating any direct shift in traditional financial assets or policy intervention.
