Shipping Through the Strait of Hormuz Stalls Again After Iranian Military Warnings
BlockBeats reported on April 19, citing British sources, that shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz ground to a halt again on the evening of April 18. Radio broadcasts had earlier warned that Iran's armed forces were reinstating "strict management and control" over the waterway. Several vessels operating in the area received the warnings, which have since been corroborated.
On the same day, UK-based maritime security firm Pioneer Technologies said three vessels were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz: an oil tanker, a cruise ship and a container ship. The report said two ships were specifically warned and then fired upon by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The container ship was hit by unidentified projectiles about 25 nautical miles northeast of Oman, damaging some containers. (CCTV)
