Morgan Stanley Digital Trust Applies for National Bank Charter to Offer Crypto Custody and Staking
Morgan Stanley Digital Trust filed an application with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Feb. 18 for a national trust bank charter to provide digital asset custody, staking, and trading services to investment clients, Odaily Planet Daily reports. If approved, the charter would enable Morgan Stanley to deliver digital asset custody and related services as a banking institution under federal oversight. The application follows the firm's appointment of senior executive Amy Oldenburg to lead its digital assets strategy, filings for spot Bitcoin and Solana ETF products, and plans to launch a proprietary digital wallet this year, reflecting a broader shift among traditional financial institutions toward active engagement in cryptocurrency markets.
