In 2025, SEC disclosures showed that Peter Thiel-linked Founders Fund unwound its entire 7.5% position in Ether treasury company ETHZilla after the firm sold 24,291 ETH to meet debt obligations. ETHZilla had previously raised $425 million, pursued a large Ether reserve with over 100,000 ETH and relied on leverage, exposing structural vulnerabilities amid price volatility. The move highlights the operational and balance sheet risks of debt-fueled Ether treasury strategies compared with simpler Bitcoin-focused models.

On March 4, cryptocurrency analyst Matthew Hyland said the digital asset market may be close to entering its most powerful growth phase. He expects crypto could transition into a two to three year expansion within eight months, as several macro and on-chain indicators line up with the 2019–2020 pre-bull market environment. Hyland points to altcoin dominance, the ETH/BTC ratio, the U.S. dollar index and other cross-asset signals as evidence that conditions may be shifting back in favor of digital assets.

In a Q4 2025 portfolio update, Harvard's $57 billion endowment reportedly sold around $72 million of its Bitcoin ETF holdings and opened an $86.8 million position in the iShares Ethereum Trust. The shift lifts combined BTC and ETH ETF exposure to $352.6 million and comes as Bitcoin trades near $69,300 and Ethereum hovers just above $2,000 after recent volatility.

On 02 March, Bitmine Immersion Technologies disclosed that it now holds 4.47 million ETH, valued at about $9.9 billion, representing roughly 3.71% of Ethereum's circulating supply. The firm has staked 68% of its ETH, while on-chain data shows Ethereum's MVRV ratio deeply negative and whales like F2Pool's Chun Wang moving hundreds of millions in stablecoins and ETH across exchanges and DeFi protocols.

Ethereum's price traded 2% above the previous day's close, with daily volume climbing 29%, even as large traders and whales took opposing positions. Around 67,000 ETH worth over $129 million were accumulated between $1,920 and $1,965, while a major whale has sold 475,300 ETH valued at $1.35 billion so far this year after a recent 82,000 ETH deposit to Binance. Analysts note ETH remains range-bound across several timeframes, with futures buying offsetting spot sell pressure and keeping the altcoin in consolidation.

Ethereum recently climbed above $2,000 and briefly touched the $2,089 area before reversing lower. The price is now below $1,950 and the 100-hour Simple Moving Average, with key support seen between $1,960 and $1,932 and major resistance around $2,050 to $2,080. If ETH stays under $2,050, analysts warn it could revisit $1,895 or even the $1,850–$1,820 region.

According to Alibaba AI, crypto markets have largely priced in earlier war-related fears and could see strong upside into 2026, with fresh highs projected for XRP, Bitcoin and Ethereum. The model points to XRP potentially reaching $12 from around $1.38, Bitcoin climbing toward $150,000, and Ethereum breaking above $5,000 and possibly hitting $6,000 by year's end. It also flags early-stage meme coin Maxi Doge, built on Ethereum, as a high-risk play seeking outsized returns through its ongoing presale and staking incentives.

BitMine Immersion Technologies has revealed a staked Ether position valued at about $6.0 billion, representing roughly 3.04 million ETH and a reported 3.71% share of Ethereum’s circulating supply. The company also disclosed that its combined crypto, cash, and high-risk investments total approximately $9.9 billion, while investors weigh the implications for staking yield, liquidity, and concentration risk.

According to CryptoQuant, 38% of altcoins are trading close to their all-time lows, highlighting persistent pressure on smaller market cap tokens. At the same time, institutional investors are directing capital toward U.S. spot Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs, which saw net inflows of $38.7 million and over $458 million respectively. BlackRock's Ethereum ETF contributed about $26.5 million of the ETH inflows, while the broader market remains in a risk-off mood, with sentiment gauges still signaling fear.

DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence model, expects Ethereum’s price outlook this year to remain constructive, even as the asset trades near $1,936 and is down 35% since the start of the year. The model forecasts a potential rebound to a $3,500–$5,500 range over the next ten months, which would exceed Ethereum’s August 24, 2025 all-time high of $4,953. As a base-case scenario, DeepSeek pinpoints $4,000 by 2026, linking this to Ethereum’s role in DeFi, RWA tokenization and growing institutional access via spot ETFs.
