China shares sink to one-week low as AI valuation fears pressure tech

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
China equities sold off sharply, with the CSI 300 hitting a one-week low as concerns over stretched AI-related valuations triggered broad de-risking in tech and semiconductors. The STAR 50 and China AI indices led declines, reinforcing sensitivity to crowded positioning and high multiples. The move can weigh on global risk sentiment and spill over into broader equity and growth-factor exposures in the near term.

Chinese equities sold off sharply on Tuesday, with the CSI 300 sliding 2.3% by midday to its lowest level since July 21. The Shanghai Composite fell 1.0% to 3,820.52. Losses were concentrated in technology and semiconductors. The STAR 50 index dropped 4.0%, the CSI AI Index tumbled 5.1%, and the semiconductor index declined 3.7%. Memory-chip maker Yangtze Memory (CXMT) slipped 1.6% on its second day of trading. The pullback was widely attributed to renewed concerns that AI-related valuations have become overstretched, triggering profit-taking and selling pressure.
