Metaplanet Buys Siiibo Securities to Lay Groundwork for a Bitcoin Fixed-Income Market in Japan
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Metaplanet's acquisition of Siiibo Securities gives it regulatory capacity to design and sell instruments in Japan, supporting plans to launch Bitcoin-collateralized bonds (4%–6% yield) and build a secondary market with potential onchain stablecoin settlement. The initiative could broaden institutional access to BTC-linked fixed-income and accelerate Bitcoin balance-sheet strategies among corporates, reinforcing demand narratives despite the deal being modest in size.

Metaplanet, a Japan-listed company, has acquired Siiibo Securities, gaining a licensed financial-instruments operator and regulatory clearance to structure and distribute securities in Japan, The Block reported.
Benchmark described the deal—valued at about 2.1 billion yen (roughly $13 million)—as a relatively modest step. Metaplanet's plan goes further: the company intends to launch Bitcoin-collateralized bonds dubbed "Bitbonds," targeting an annualized yield of 4% to 6%. Metaplanet also plans to move settlement on-chain using stablecoins and gradually develop a secondary market.
The company says it wants to provide an issuance platform for businesses pursuing a Bitcoin balance-sheet strategy, enabling them to sell bonds to finance BTC purchases. Under its "Project Nova" roadmap, Metaplanet aims to build a new type of Bitcoin-centric financial institution.
Metaplanet currently holds about 43,000 BTC, making it the world's third-largest corporate Bitcoin treasury, according to the report.
