XRP Ledger Payment Engine Had Decade-Old Critical Flaw, Patched in xrpld 3.4.1

PANews, October 11 — After Veria AI reported a critical vulnerability, RippleX Engineering Lead J. Ayo Akinyele said the XRP Ledger payment engine had a severe flaw for more than a decade that could have allowed XRP to be minted beyond its fixed supply. The issue was found through a bug bounty program and has not been exploited. The development team released patch xrpld 3.4.1 and coordinated validator upgrades before public disclosure. Akinyele said AI is accelerating vulnerability discovery. XRPL will increase proactive security investments, address technical debt, advance formal verification, and systematically eliminate potential risks in legacy code.
