Zcash Community Backs Faster 25-Second Blocks, Keeps Bitcoin-Style Halving in NU7 Vote

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Zcash's NU7 governance vote shows strong consensus to cut block time from 75s to 25s, improving throughput and reducing confirmation latency, while preserving Bitcoin-style halving to maintain the existing issuance framework. Broad participation (~two-thirds of eligible supply) increases upgrade legitimacy and reduces governance uncertainty. Disabling legacy Sprout transactions and targeting rapid deployment by end-September signals near-term protocol change risk and ecosystem coordination requirements.

PANews, Sept. 16 — The Zcash community has concluded its privacy vote ahead of the NU7 network upgrade, with roughly 2.4 million ZEC—about two-thirds of the eligible supply—taking part, CoinDesk reported. Voters overwhelmingly backed cutting block time to 25 seconds from 75 seconds to speed up transaction confirmations, winning 99.9% support. The existing Bitcoin-style halving schedule also received strong approval, with 98.9% voting to keep it. On funding, about 96.6% supported postponing redistribution of fees collected under the Network Sustainability Mechanism until no earlier than February 2031. The vote also endorsed disabling legacy Sprout privacy transactions and rolling out NU7 as soon as possible, with deployment readiness targeted by Sept. 30 at the latest.
