Boeing moves to fix 737 MAX software glitch that can disable autopilot navigation after a missed approach
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Boeing identified a 737 MAX software glitch that can disable certain automated navigation functions after a missed approach, prompting FAA scrutiny and customer pushback on deliveries with the affected software. While Boeing says existing procedures mitigate risk and a permanent update is in progress, the issue adds reputational and operational uncertainty after prior MAX safety and quality incidents, potentially pressuring near-term sentiment around execution and regulatory oversight.

Boeing has identified a new 737 MAX software glitch that can disable an automated navigation feature after a missed approach, with 2,422 MAX 8 and MAX 9 jets operating worldwide. The issue is tied to a cockpit software update and can occur when pilots change their planned flight path after aborting a landing attempt, according to the Wall Street Journal. Boeing told airlines in late August it did not consider the problem a safety risk and said engineers are working on a software update to permanently address it. The FAA is investigating, and some major U.S. customers have asked Boeing not to deliver new MAX jets with the affected software, the Journal reported.
