Coal India Q1 net profit edges up 0.7% to ₹8,850 crore as expenses jump 27%; declares ₹5.50 interim dividend

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Coal India's Q1 profit was essentially flat as mining input costs jumped 27% on higher explosives and diesel-linked expenses tied to West Asia disruptions, despite 8% revenue growth. Production fell 7.5% YoY, while offtake rose modestly, underscoring tight operational leverage amid resilient power-sector demand. The interim dividend supports shareholder returns but does not offset cost pressure as the dominant supplier to India's coal-based generation.

Coal India reported June-quarter net profit of ₹8,850 crore, up 0.7% year on year, even as expenses rose 27% to ₹3,260 crore. The company attributed the cost increase to higher spending on explosives and oil and lubricants linked to the West Asia conflict.
