European states agree on ‘assertive’ reply to US push for 120 million-barrel diesel release

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
European governments and the EU signaled a coordinated, "assertive" stance against U.S. pressure to release diesel reserves, while the U.S. is weighing a diesel export ban. This raises uncertainty around transatlantic middle-distillate flows, with potential tightening of European diesel supply and spillover to crude and refined-product cracks. Near-term energy market volatility is likely to rise as policy risk becomes the dominant driver.

European countries including Britain, France and Germany held an emergency meeting and agreed on a tougher, coordinated response to U.S. pressure to release diesel reserves. Washington is urging a release of 120 million barrels over six months, more than a third of the EU’s total diesel stockpiles. The officials also agreed that any decision on releases should be handled at the International Energy Agency level and that talks with the U.S. should aim to reduce tension.
