Bitcoin slid 4% on Tuesday to $87,790 on Coinbase, erasing year-to-date gains. Over the past 48 hours, more than $1.8 billion in positions were liquidated, about 93% of them longs, according to Coinglass. Analysts pointed to renewed U.S. tariff threats and turmoil in Japanese bonds as drivers, while crypto's market cap dropped by $225 billion to $3.08 trillion.

Ethereum has extended its decline from the $3,200 resistance, breaking below $3,000 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average while testing lows near $2,910. With a bearish trend line capping price around $3,020 and major support clustered near $2,880, ETH faces the risk of further losses unless buyers can defend this zone and trigger a rebound toward $3,120–$3,150.

Bitcoin has held above $80k for nearly 60 days, a setup that previously preceded breakouts since 2023. A 60-day price coil and a CFGI 30/90-day crossover in early 2026 point to a possible rally, while a trader sees scope for $107k; momentum remains above neutral.

Bitcoin fell below $90,000 after losing the $92,500 support, touching $87,784 before consolidating. Traders are watching $88,000 on the downside and resistance at $89,600, $90,000, and $91,650; a close above $91,650–$92,000 could target $94,000, $94,200 trend line resistance, and $95,000–$95,500, while failure risks $88,800, $87,500, and $86,200.

Bitcoin slid toward $90,623, with analysts pointing to a nearby retest that could set the next directional move. Lennaert Snyder notes a reclaim of $91,265 could target $93,377, while Ardi highlights $94,000 as the key decision area. A rejection there risks a break below $90,000 and a sweep toward $88,000.

On Tuesday, Bitcoin fell below the $90,000 level, prompting fresh debate about whether a full bear market is developing. Analyst Raun Neuner compared Bitcoin’s current cycle with past post‑Halving patterns, noting previous peaks occurred about 532 days after each Halving and were followed by 70%–80% drawdowns. Based on that framework and the recent high near $125,000, he outlined a potential downside scenario toward $37,000, while other market watchers flagged $84,000–$85,000 and the 200‑week moving average around $57,000 as key support zones.

Bitcoin is holding a critical support area near $90,000 as risk appetite weakens, according to a market review. Shiba Inu dropped below its 50 EMA, turning a former base into resistance. XRP is attempting to stabilize within the $1.90–$2.00 zone, where a decisive break could open the door to deeper retracement.

CryptoQuant contributor Darkfost reports a clear drop in BTC whale inflows to Binance: after end‑November's panic phase saw nearly $8 billion in monthly transfers, current inflows have been cut to around $2.74 billion, signaling softer sell-side pressure. CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju says institutional demand remains strong, citing 577K BTC ($53B) added over the past year.

Since January 6, ETH net taker volume has posted a $390 million positive imbalance, the largest buy-side skew since January 2023. CVD stands at -3,676 ETH and price is holding above $3,000, while Hyblock reports roughly $540 million in net longs near $3,100. These signals indicate renewed futures participation, with trend resilience hinging on daily closes above $3,000.

Swissblock said a key market-cycle gauge for Ethereum has shifted to "predominance," echoing leadership seen in Q2 2025. Staked supply has reached 47% (77.85 million ETH) as BitMine added 1.7 million ETH worth $5.56 billion in recent weeks. CoinShares also noted $496 million of ETH inflows into U.S. spot ETFs last week.
