SEC and CFTC Sign MOU to Coordinate Crypto Asset Oversight

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on crypto asset regulation and digital product rollout, Odaily Planet Daily reports. The MOU aims to support lawful innovation, preserve market integrity, and protect investors while advancing a federal framework for emerging technologies including crypto assets. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said longstanding jurisdictional disputes and overlapping registration obligations between the agencies have constrained innovation and pushed market participants to other jurisdictions, and the MOU will help remove regulatory barriers to new financial products. CFTC Chair Michael Selig noted U.S. markets maintain global leadership by adapting to investor needs as the regulatory framework evolves to deliver more unified oversight.
