Shares of Maharashtra-based small and medium enterprise GSM Foils fell 20% in a single session to 192 rupees apiece, after the company's managing director Parmar was shot at its premises on July 24. Police said two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire, hitting Parmar in the shoulder.
Another director, Bhanushali, has been taken into custody over allegations that he orchestrated the attack and siphoned 3.2 billion rupees. Investigators allege Bhanushali persuaded Parmar to acquire his stake, then refused to repay the money and attempted to seize full control of the company. The incident has rattled confidence in the firm's governance and credit standing.
