PTCL board approves binding offer to buy majority stake in target company
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
PTCL's board approval to submit a binding offer for a majority stake signals continued consolidation ambitions after the earlier Telenor Pakistan acquisition, but terms and approvals remain pending and no definitive agreement is signed. The news is largely idiosyncratic to Pakistan's telecom and payments landscape, with limited spillover to global macro, commodities, or crypto pricing in the near term.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) said its board has approved submitting a binding offer to acquire a majority stake in a target company. The company said the transaction remains subject to negotiations, due diligence, definitive documentation, and all required corporate, regulatory and statutory approvals. PTCL added that the consideration and other commercial terms are still being finalised and that no definitive agreement has been signed. It previously completed a Rs108 billion ($400 million) acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers on December 31, 2025, following Competition Commission of Pakistan approval in October 2025.
