BYD has priced the Atto 1 at A$19,990 driveway in Australia, making it the country’s cheapest new car and the first EV to drop below A$20,000. The move aims to knock down a key cost barrier to wider EV adoption. More EV models are already selling for under A$40,000 and even A$30,000, intensifying competition in the lower end of the market.
