On chain metrics for Bitcoin indicate rising movement of older coins, softer short term demand growth and expanding holdings at large accumulation addresses. The price recently cleared a key resistance area around $95,000 on the BTCUSDT daily chart, with one analyst outlining a breakout structure that keeps $100,000 in focus as a major psychological level.

In August 2020, Michael Saylor said Strategy began with a $250 million Bitcoin purchase. On Jan. 11, 2026, he noted the position had reached $60.25 billion, while MSTR pulled back to its monthly supertrend support. A StrategyTracker chart counted 673,783 BTC with an average cost near $75,026 and an unrealized gain of about 21%.

On Jan. 12, Bitcoin briefly traded above $92,000 after a late-session rally, while network mining difficulty eased in early 2026 from recent highs. The difficulty level slipped to around 146.4 trillion as BTC hovered near $90,500, reducing competitive pressure on miners and offering short-term relief. Intraday price action showed a rebound from the low $90,000s, with buyers driving the move toward a session high near $92,400.

Bitcoin whale balances shifted to net accumulation over the past 30 days in early January as price action stayed relatively muted. An analyst flagged a weekly close above $88,500 as a key trigger after roughly eight weeks above $80,000, noting $76,600 as near-term risk and upside markers around $97,636 to $110,709.

Bitmine transferred 86,400 ETH into Ethereum's staking deposit contract, with on chain data indicating the batch was worth about $266.3 million. At the same time, chart analyses showed Ethereum breaking out of a prolonged falling channel, trading above $3,000 and outlining potential cycle targets toward the $6,400 area and beyond.

BlackRock accumulated Bitcoin and Ether over a three-day span via ETF-linked wallets, during which both assets advanced before retracing part of their gains. Onchain data indicates inflows of 9,619 BTC and 46,851 ETH from Coinbase Prime-linked addresses into BlackRock's ETF custody wallets. Bitcoin briefly moved above $90,000 and tested the $93,000 to $94,000 range, while Ether climbed past $3,100 toward $3,300 before both cooled off and settled above their initial levels.

Ethereum has moved above a 12-hour descending channel and is trading over $3,000, with technical targets around $3,410, $3,770 and $4,250. At the same time, Ethereum-linked networks closed 2025 with record monthly transactions, led by Base, Polygon PoS and Arbitrum, while recent price action into early January favors a continued push higher if $3,000 holds.
