What Is Core (CORE) and How Does It Work?

Core is a Bitcoin-integrated, EVM-compatible layer-one blockchain built for Bitcoin DeFi, often called BTCfi. Its goal is to give Bitcoin holders, miners, developers, and decentralized applications a way to participate in smart-contract activity while keeping a close connection to Bitcoin’s security model.

The network uses Satoshi Plus consensus, which combines Delegated Proof of Work, Delegated Proof of Stake, and self-custodial Bitcoin staking. CORE holders can stake tokens to help elect validators. Bitcoin miners can direct hash-power votes to validators, and Bitcoin holders can timelock BTC on the Bitcoin network to participate in validator election without transferring BTC to a bridge or custodian. The elected validators produce blocks on Core’s EVM-compatible chain.

CORE is the network’s native utility and governance token. It is used for transaction fees, validator and delegator staking, governance participation, and Core’s Dual Staking design, where staking CORE alongside self-custodied BTC can increase a participant’s Bitcoin-staking reward tier. Token demand may be influenced by network usage, staking participation, and BTCfi adoption, while market performance also depends on liquidity, supply conditions, and broader market sentiment.

When Did Core Launch?

Core mainnet launched in January 2023. The network positioned itself as a Bitcoin-powered smart-contract chain with EVM compatibility, then expanded its Bitcoin-staking and BTCfi product set around the Satoshi Plus model.

Subsequent ecosystem development has focused on self-custodial BTC staking, Dual Staking, validator participation, developer tooling, and DeFi applications built on Core. The protocol’s white paper and official materials continue to frame the long-term direction around making Bitcoin a productive asset while preserving user custody.

Who Created CORE?

CORE is associated with Core DAO, with the Core Foundation and a wider community of contributors supporting network development, ecosystem initiatives, and governance decentralization. Official project materials describe a DAO-led participation model and do not present an individual founder as the network’s sole creator.

A comprehensive, independently verified public founder roster is not presented in the official materials reviewed for this page. Readers assessing governance and execution should review Core DAO’s current documentation, public repositories, validator set, and governance communications.

Core Roadmap

Expand self-custodial Bitcoin staking: Core continues to develop ways for BTC holders to timelock Bitcoin using Bitcoin-native controls while participating in Core validator selection and earning protocol rewards.

Grow Dual Staking participation: The Dual Staking model is designed to connect CORE staking with Bitcoin-staking reward tiers, creating an incentive for users who support both assets in the network’s security design.

Develop the BTCfi ecosystem: Core supports DeFi, lending, trading, NFT, gaming, and infrastructure builders through EVM compatibility, developer tools, and ecosystem programs.

Improve network and institutional readiness: Network upgrades, validator operations, security practices, and institutional-facing Bitcoin-yield products remain important areas for Core’s evolution.

What Is the CORE Token Utility?

CORE links the chain’s transaction economy, validator security, governance process, and Bitcoin-staking incentives. Its utility depends on continued use of the Core network and participation in its staking architecture.

1. Gas and network operations: CORE pays transaction fees for activity on the Core blockchain. This gives the token a direct role in the network’s execution environment.

2. Staking and security: CORE can be staked by validators and delegators. Validator selection under Satoshi Plus also incorporates Bitcoin-miner and Bitcoin-holder participation, so CORE staking is one component of a broader security model.

3. Governance and Dual Staking: CORE holders can participate in governance processes. CORE is also used in Dual Staking, which can increase the reward tier available to users who stake CORE alongside eligible self-custodied BTC.

CORE/USDT is available on the BingX spot market. Log into a verified BingX account, deposit or transfer USDT to the spot wallet, then search for the CORE/USDT pair. A Market order seeks immediate execution at available prices, while a Limit order lets users set a preferred price. Review the live order book, fees, and risk controls before placing an order.

What Is Core Tokenomics?

CORE has a fixed maximum supply of 2.1 billion tokens. Official Core materials describe an emissions schedule designed to distribute block rewards over an 81-year period. Network rewards are funded through the CORE block-reward schedule and transaction fees generated by Core-chain activity.

Official documentation also describes deflationary mechanics in which a portion of transaction fees and block rewards can be burned. Supply mechanics can affect both staking incentives and market liquidity. Traders should monitor the live circulating supply, emissions, burn activity, staking participation, and any changes to protocol reward rules before making decisions.

CORE Token Allocation

A complete, current allocation table with category percentages was not identified in the official materials reviewed for this page. Public-facing materials emphasize the fixed supply, long-term block-reward schedule, validator incentives, and ecosystem participation.

Readers should review the latest official tokenomics disclosures for allocations associated with the treasury, early contributors, investors, ecosystem incentives, liquidity, and staking rewards. Concentration in these wallets, unlock timing, and changes to token-distribution rules can materially affect market conditions.
