UK CMA opens 14 consumer probes in first DMCCA year, fines AA £4.2 million over hidden £3 booking fee
The UK Competition and Markets Authority opened consumer-protection investigations into 14 businesses in its first enforcement year from April 2025 to April 2026. It fined the AA £4.2 million and ordered more than £760,000 in refunds to over 80,000 learner drivers. The CMA said the AA’s online booking process did not clearly show the total price upfront, with a mandatory £3 booking fee added later at checkout.
