Greece’s Diana Shipping has signed a new time-charter deal for its 2014-built panamax dry bulk carrier Atalandi, lifting the daily rate to $16,500 from $10,100, net of a 5.00% commission. The contract is set to begin on August 5, 2026, and runs at least until August 1, 2027. The company expects the minimum period to generate about $5.89m in gross revenue. Diana Shipping operates 36 dry bulk vessels with about 4.1 million dwt of carrying capacity and a weighted average age of 12.66 years.

Drewry’s composite World Container Index rose 2% this week to $4,639 per 40foot container. Rates on major lanes including Shanghai–Rotterdam, Shanghai–Genoa and Shanghai–Los Angeles increased by 2%–5%, while some return routes were flat or slightly lower, according to Drewry Supply Chain Advisors. The data points to continued increases in global ocean shipping costs. That trend adds upward pressure on import costs for primary commodities that rely on sea freight.
