Midnight Mainnet on Cardano Tops 1 Million Transactions, Activity Jumps 26,508%

Midnight Network has topped 1 million mainnet transactions within seven months of launch, with onchain activity up 26,508% over the past month. Midnight Explorer data shows 1,094,866 transactions and 1,434 deployed smart contracts at press time; the latest block stood at 3,222,903. Transaction volume was modest in the early days, with daily counts in the hundreds. The network processed 100 transactions on Sept. 28 and 530 on Oct. 1. Activity accelerated sharply in October, pushing daily totals into the tens of thousands. Midnight recorded 49,229 transactions on Oct. 25. Daily activity has since eased to 26,608 in the hours before press time, but the daily count remains up 26,508% over the past month. The surge coincided with permissionless smart contract deployment on the mainnet. The update removed mandatory preproduction reviews and team audits, letting developers deploy contracts directly without those approval steps. That lowered entry barriers for developers and projects building on Midnight and may have fueled October activity. Higher transaction volume alone does not necessarily signal sustained demand for applications built on Midnight. NIGHT, the network token, rose more than 35% over the past month to $0.03933 at press time. Its market cap stood at $653 million, ranking it No. 76 among cryptocurrencies. The gains in activity and token price point to improving momentum. They do not establish a direct causal link between transaction growth and market performance.
