Alphabet Rejoins the $4 Trillion Club With AI-Fueled Rally

Alphabet, Google's parent, has returned to a $4 trillion market capitalization, becoming only the fourth company ever to reach the milestone after Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple. Shares closed at $331.86 on the day the company cleared the threshold. Alphabet stock jumped 65% in 2025, a move largely attributed to its intensified push into artificial intelligence. That strength carried into 2026, lifting the shares above the $4 trillion mark on Jan. 12. The company had not sustained a valuation at that level in more than seven years. Alphabet's market value peaked at roughly $4.3 trillion in early July 2026, briefly making it the world's second-largest publicly traded company. By late July, its market cap had eased back to about $3.9 trillion. Alphabet's return underscores the continued dominance of the so-called Magnificent Seven—Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Tesla—with the AI investment narrative remaining the key catalyst across the group. Alphabet's rebound stands out given years of investor skepticism that it was falling behind in AI. When ChatGPT arrived in late 2022, Google was widely seen as slow to respond. The 2025 surge effectively marked a shift in market perception that the company had caught up. The $4 trillion milestone was not tied to crypto tokens, blockchain initiatives or digital-asset announcements. Still, Alphabet's work on post-quantum cryptography is drawing attention from a blockchain-security perspective. Quantum computing is viewed as a theoretical but increasingly plausible risk to the cryptographic systems underpinning Bitcoin, Ethereum and most existing blockchain networks. As one of the most active players in quantum-computing research, Google could influence how post-quantum standards ultimately reshape blockchain security models.
