Two tankers that had been sailing toward Africa have changed course and are now signaling Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, near the Strait of Hormuz’s eastern exit. The move reflects growing market optimism that easing U.S.-Iran tensions could allow traffic through the chokepoint to resume. Mitsui OSK Lines has said it would need a “material” agreement and safety guarantees before returning, a process that could take weeks, even as fleet movements are already prompting spot-capacity adjustments.
