Illinois enacts DigitalAssetTax Act, introducing 0.2% levy on crypto transfers from January 2027

Illinois has signed the DigitalAssetTax Act into law, setting a 0.2% tax on cryptocurrency transfers beginning in January 2027. The levy applies to moving crypto, including transfers between a user's own wallets. Exchanges that serve Illinois users will be responsible for collecting the tax.
