SK Hynix ships samples of 12-layer HBM4E chips to major customers

SK Hynix has shipped samples of its next-generation 12-layer HBM4E memory chips to major customers. The company said the chips deliver bandwidth of up to 16Gbps per pin and more than 20% better power efficiency than previous models. As Nvidia’s main supplier of high-bandwidth memory, SK Hynix’s HBM4E progress supports performance upgrades and production timelines for Nvidia AI accelerators such as the H100 and B100. Samsung and Micron are competitors, but the report did not provide details on their HBM4E progress.
